If we had it in us, we'd not call Goa a state, we'd call it a pause button. Wake up late. Walk barefoot. Eat what feels good. Do nothing. Or everything. It's yours. Come lose time, find yourself, whatever you need.

Where rugged mountains descend into the quiet of the Konkan coast.
Home to over 350 waterfalls, 34 rock-cut caves and one cosmic crater, Maharashtra is nature’s oldest storyteller.
But if you listen closely, one voice rises above the rest: the voice of water. In the monsoon, the state transforms. Hills split open to reveal too many waterfalls that turn into thundering curtains of rain. Thoseghar Falls drops from nearly 200 meters, a sound so deep it feels like the earth breathing. Vajrai, the highest in the state, doesn’t fall, it flows and eventually vanishes into the mist. And in small villages, nameless streams rush past mossy temples and forgotten steps, as if the land itself is alive again.
In Maharashtra, water isn’t a season, it’s a soul. It shapes mountains, feeds forests and turns the hardest of rocks into caves.

Maharashtra is a state of contrasts, where the energy of Mumbai gives way to forested hills, historic forts, vineyards, beaches and quiet countryside. The Western Ghats bring waterfalls, valleys and lush monsoon landscapes, while the Konkan coast stretches into a world of beaches, fishing villages and tropical greenery. Further inland, the landscape opens into historic cities and agricultural country.

Maharashtra's heritage can be found in its hill forts, ancient cave complexes, temples and historic cities. The Ajanta and Ellora Caves reveal an extraordinary tradition of rock-cut architecture and art, while forts across the Sahyadris tell stories of the region's political and military past. Yet heritage here is not confined to monuments; festivals, food, music and local traditions continue to shape everyday life.

A journey through Maharashtra can take many forms. Trek through the Sahyadris, follow the Konkan coast, explore vineyards around Nashik, discover ancient caves or venture into the state's forests and wildlife reserves. During the monsoon, waterfalls and hills transform the landscape, while the cooler months open up longer days of exploration.
Maharashtra works particularly well when different experiences are allowed to sit alongside one another. A private villa in the hills, a coastal retreat or a heritage stay can become a base for discovering the landscape at a more relaxed pace. Rather than seeing the state as a collection of destinations, travel through it slowly and the connections between its coast, mountains, history and food begin to emerge.
